How to extend your Visit Experience using Technologies!

DESIGNED TOGETHER WITH Lamego Museum

With this project, we aim to extend visitor´s experience to Lamego Museum using technologies. BYOD is available anytime, anywhere and it is a wonderful opportunity for museums to engage with their visitors before, during and after a visit while saving money investing in devices, not to mention all the associated infrastructure.

Background

Lamego Museum, located in the historic center of the city, is an organization at the service of the development of knowledge and education of society, through its history and an eclectic proprietary collection, diverse and plural, which allows a journey of discovery about the evolution of the city of Lamego and the men and women who inhabited over the centuries.
BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) is a practice that has emerged as a result of the increasing number of people who take their smartphones and other devices with them everywhere, they go for maximum productivity. BYOD is available anytime, anywhere and it is a wonderful opportunity for museums to engage with their visitors before, during and after a visit.

Challenge

For museums, BYOD is less about the devices and more about the personalized content that users have loaded onto them. Today, separating a user from their tools and apps has become like separating them from some of their most precious belongings.
How might the service experience start before customers enter the museum and continue after they leave the building? 
What does the act of an individual using our own device means for museum?
How and when do visitors to get information about a museum and its content? What trends and weak signals could enhance the experience of museum visitors?
How might we use BYODs to enhance the visitor’s experience in museums?
What technological solutions are in use now or could be in the future among mobile device users in making the visits even better?
How to bring something so historical as museums together with something so modern as mobile devices to benefit the visitors?
